Big Hugs for Little Hearts recognizes the profound impact that health, wellness, and fitness have on the recovery journey of our nation's future leaders. That's why we've joined forces with the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) and their Move Your Way campaign to spread awareness about the latest recommendations from the second edition of the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, unveiled in November 2018. The Move Your Way initiative champions personalized, practical strategies that individuals of all ages can incorporate into their daily lives, empowering them to prioritize physical activity in the midst of their busy schedules while elucidating the optimal amount and types of activity required for optimal health.

We're dedicated to amplifying this message far and wide! Through the Move Your Way campaign, an array of resources is available to health professionals, organizations, and communities like ours, enabling us to provide invaluable support to children, adults, parents, and older adults alike. Whether here on our platform or at our upcoming events, such as the Big Hugs Fitness for Kids and Families in Charleston Community, we're committed to equipping everyone with the tools and knowledge needed to lead more active lives. And contrary to popular belief, being active doesn't necessarily mean spending hours on a treadmill. It's about discovering enjoyable activities or even embracing daily chores as opportunities for physical movement. Are you passionate about promoting physical activity among your peers? The Move Your Way® campaign invites you to be a catalyst for change by creating your own compelling video! By sharing your favorite ways to stay active, you can inspire fellow teens in your community to embrace a healthier lifestyle.

 

Here's a handy guide to help you craft a captivating video that spreads the word about the benefits of physical activity and encourages others to join the movement.

Start the Conversation: Kickstart your video by addressing key concepts that resonate with your audience. Here are some talking points to get you started:

  1. Highlight the Importance of Physical Activity: Emphasize that teens should aim for at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day. Whether it's playing sports, dancing, or simply taking a brisk walk, every bit of movement counts towards a healthier lifestyle.

  2. Integrate Activity into Daily Life: Showcase creative ways to incorporate physical activity into everyday routines. From doing squats while brushing teeth to taking the stairs instead of the elevator, small actions can add up to significant health benefits over time.
